The Enochian Church of Jesus the Christ

     Questions may arise in your mind as to the name of this church.  Why this name?  What does “Enochian” mean?  Why is it Jesus “the” Christ instead of just Jesus Christ?

     Let’s start with the most important part of the name of our church, “Jesus the Christ”.  It is our position that the last name of our Lord is not biblically known.  The word “Christ” is often so associated with the name Jesus that it has, in the mind of many, become His last name.  The word “Christ” is more accurately Jesus’ title.  We read in the sixteenth chapter of Matthew that Jesus asked a question concerning His identity.  We read that answer in verse sixteen Peter’s response, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  This is verified in Mark 8:29.  When Jesus was taken from the garden and brought before the chief priests and scribes, He was asked “Art thou the Christ?  Tell us.” Luke 22:67.  They were looking for a man with the title “Christ”.  In the Gospel of John, Jesus asked Martha, sister to Lazarus, if she believed that He was the Resurrection and the Life.  She answered in John 11:27, “Yea, Lord:  I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”  These are just four examples of how the word “Christ” is used as title instead of a last name, thus the portion of our church’s name, “Jesus the Christ.”

   Enochian is a word that is derived from the name of God’s most long lived prophet.  Enoch is his name.  He was the seventh generation man from Adam.  He was on the Earth for 365 years and God saw fit to take him straight into Heaven without causing him to die.  This can be found in Genesis 5:23-24, and is verified in Hebrews 11:5.  The Lord led me to add this word to the title of our church for two reasons:  1)  The Book of Enoch the Prophet was the first book that I found for inclusion in God’s word.  2)  In researching Enoch, I discovered that his name has been stolen for use in witchcraft.  I was amazed and offended that the name of God’s first prophet to tell of the second coming of The Christ (Jude 1:14) would be used in such an unholy way.  It is now purposed to reclaim the name of this wonderful man for all who worship our creator God as Enoch does.  This explains the word “Enochian”. 

     I hope this brief explanation helps you understand the reason for naming our church “The Enochian Church of Jesus the Christ”.  God bless you all in the name of our Lord, Jesus, The Christ.
